On this July 4th, let me post the video above and the lyrics from one of the songs from Les Misérables. This is the prayer of every parent who has a son or daughter in the Armed Forces. I was such a son once, drafted during Viet Nam. I have a daughter and a son-in-law who have served overseas. On this July 4th, I am conscious once again of those who still have sons and daughters overseas. May the Lord richly bless you on this day.

Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there
https://transculturalexchange.org/l6qds8obw He is young
He’s afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
https://homeupgradespecialist.com/p16tm92irb He’s like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.
https://foster2forever.com/2024/08/oqeub02.html Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy
https://oevenezolano.org/2024/08/1k7krbb3wm You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die, let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
https://nedediciones.com/uncategorized/v82hkolclmc Yes, and like many parents, my prayer was the one found in the last few lines, “If I die, let me die. Let him live. Bring him home.” May God watch over the many sons and daughters who are unable to celebrate on this day, who are standing on the ramparts, who will be under hostile fire on this day. May they remember that on this July 4th we are thinking of them.
