For those of you who have been wondering at my abscence, it was because last week was our youngest daughter’s wedding. Therefore, we were quite occupied with all the inevitable last minute details. One of those details is that last week, two days before the wedding, I had the opportunity to chrismate our daughter into the Church. Her chrismation is recorded at a Greek Orthodox parish. This means that we now have one daughter chrismated at an Antiochian Orthodox parish, one chrismated at a Russian Orthodox parish, and one chrismated at a Greek Orthodox parish. God most certainly works in mysterious ways.
When we returned from our trip to the wedding site, we found that a large tree had been blown over by the winds and had fallen right next to my car, to the point where I almost had to enter it from the passanger side. Some of the branches were even wrapped around the front bumper, yet there was not a scratch on the car. Yes, we suspect there was a guardian angel around somewhere.
I hope to return to regular blogging now, although I am looking forward to celebrating the Feast of the Dormition, and celebrating it well. That needs to be our priority.
One final note. I became quite sentimental during my dance with our daughter, during the reception. We danced to the song, “Butterfly Kisses.” During the verse in which the artist sings about her changing her name “today” and giving her away, I stopped dancing with her and led her over to her husband and handed her hand to him. My only problem was making it back to my seat without blubbering. They do grow up fast.

Thank you for sharing. My youngest daughter will be baptized into the Serbian Orthodox Church this coming Sunday and will be married the following Saturday. She had me pick the song for our dance at the reception and I already know that I won’t even make it onto the dance floor without blubbering. Life does go by so quickly…that is why we are all called to live it to the fullest for our Lord.

I have three daughters, all in their 20s, none of them married. Pray for me.
But God bless you and your daughter and her new family!
