I had to adopt the practice of making sure to leave my cell phone in the sacristy, even though I had had it on vibrate. You see, back when I had not realized that the buzzing of vibrate could actually be heard through a cassock. And, it is no the least bit helpful if during a church service, one’s cassock begins to emit a certain buzzing sound. It is difficult to maintain a straight face or to not be fully red-faced and embarrassed when one’s cassock begins to emit unfortunate sounds. Nor does it help if the congregation begins to giggle.
Tomorrow, God willing, more commentary on Catholic social theory.

Fr. Ernesto,
What’s your cell number again? I think I misplaced it. 🙂

I saw this many times and it as very funny to see the pastor so embarrassed and red face. It happens to forget to close your cell phone when you are going to church, but this should not be a habit, cause you are not a good example for parishioners.
