Yesterday, I commented that, in an excess of caution, I was withholding the name of our youngest daughter who was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. I have since found out that it has been published publicly, so I am free to show you a photograph of the award ceremony. The caption reads:
(Right to left) Lt. Col. John Holzapfel, battalion commander for the Fremont based 394th Combat Sustainment Support and Omaha congratulates 1st Lt. Rosa Cannaverde, operations officer with the 394th CSSB, after awarding her a bronze star during the 2101st Trans. Co.’s award ceremony at Contingency Operating Base Speicher, Iraq, on Dec. 18. “I’m proud to have served with the 2101st,” said Holzapfel. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Matthew Keeler)
Yes, I must admit. I am a very proud Papá. She may look tiny in comparison to the men around her. I would not wish any of you to make the mistake of thinking that this means that she is, uhm, defenseless and harmless. GRIN. And, for those of you who have had strong discussions with me, yes, she does think at times that her Papá has some mistaken opinions. Yet, as I said earlier, I am ever so proud of her.
Patricia Obregón says
We all know you have “mistaken opinions”! lol
Gooo Rosie!
Fr. Orthohippo says
Way to go, Rosa!
That Other Jean says
Papa, you have every reason to be proud of your daughter. Well done, Rosa!
John Ouzounidis says
Congratulations to both of you! What exactly was the bronze star awarded for?
Fr. Ernesto Obregon says
She will be in Melbourne to visit her in-laws, the Cannaverdes. Ask her when she is there. GRIN. I will simply say that part of her award says that it was for meritorious service in difficult circumstances.
