The questions on foreign policy have gone on. However, both candidates have currently backed off from their attacks, and it looks as though Sen. Obama is calming down. In fact, like a couple of boxers, both are getting to the slightly punch-drunk stage. They are trying to maintain energy, but both are stumbling every so often and resorting to memorized stock answers.
As the minutes wind down, they are talking about Iran. The question was whether there would be an automatic reaction by the USA should Israel be directly attacked. Both did very well on it. Now on to the last question.
The last question was called “Zen-like” question by Mr. Brokaw. “What don’t you know and how would you learn it?” He is right, it is Zen-like in that if you knew what you did not know, then you certainly would know what you needed to learn. (Did you have fun reading that last sentence?)
As a result, Sen. Obama has basically gone around the question and is giving a closing speech. (I, myself, am quite tired and feeling the results of decongestant medicine.) Sen. McCain is beginning his last answer. He gave a better answer by saying that what we do not know are the unexpected events that will come up and require a response from us. He has now also launched into his closing speech. He has just given an excellent closing speech and stayed away from all partisan attacks.
