An interesting beginning, both were quoted by the moderator on remarks that showed less than exciting opinions of the vice-presidency. Gov. Palin got the first answer and was able to make a little joke out of her response. Sen. Biden was not able to answer the question quite as directly as Gov. Palin because he was the one who had said back during the campaign that he would not wish to be vice-president. But, both laid out the responsibilities that their candidate had assigned to them in a future administration.
Sen. Biden just slammed Vice-President Cheney big time. He is the one who sounds like the Rottweiler right now. Hmm, of course, minus the lipstick.
The moderator just asked both candidates about their perceived weaknesses. Gov. Palin has completely ducked that question and has not answered about her weakness. Meanwhile, Sen. Biden has answered honestly about his weaknesses. In fact, he even admitted to a couple of more. He also laid to rest any idea that he could be anything near to being an elitist by relating his personal story of what it meant to be a single parent trying to raise kids while going to work.
I just noticed that all but one of the analysts have finally given some negative numbers to both candidates. So, it is looking a little more balanced.
Rottweiler Biden has just taken on the notion that Sen. McCain is a maverick and savaged that idea.
The moderator has just asked both candidates whether they had had to change their mind on any subject when they first got to office. Interestingly enough, Sen. Biden admitted to changing his mind on one subject while Gov. Palin seemed to say that there were only strategic retreats but no changes of mind.
Well, final question and final statements. Frankly, a little formulaic and not too interesting. But, this was a much better debate than the first one between the presidential candidates. I actually feel that I learned something.
