They are still on foreign policy. The subject has been on the Middle East for several minutes now. Again, both of them are going at it, toe to toe. I am amazed at the high level of debate that has been expressed in the last few minutes. I feel like I am getting much more meat at this point in the debate than I got in the first debate, between Sen. McCain and Sen. Obama. My ears still cannot believe that I am actually hearing policy statements that sound realistic. If this keeps up, I am going to believe that the election should have been between Sen. Biden vs Gov. Palin! Now they are speaking of specific strategies with respect to Afghanistan. In fact, I now better understand the options than from all that has been said by President Bush!
I feel like I am being taken on a world tour of the troublespots. Darfur, Russia, Bosnia, they are all being covered. I am quite interested in the answers. But, finally, Gov. Palin has shown a slip. She has had to retreat to the stock phrase that Sen. McCain is a war-hero and knows how to conduct a war. It shows a certain lack of experience in the Africa area.
Ahh, a totally unexpected question. I have to hand it to the host. “What would you do if you became President because of the untimely death of your running mate?” Both had good answers, but Gov Palin’s was actually the more interesting one. She said that they are a team of mavericks, and that Sen. McCain has not asked her to agree on everything. She said he wants the healthy debate of two mavericks. So, she actually listed some areas, including drilling in the Anwar, where she wants to change Sen. McCain.
